Golden Gate

Another must-see is the Golden Gate, an eight-meter-high Roman triumphal arch built in the 1st century BC. It’s particularly striking at sunset, when it truly lives up to its name. Interestingly, it was sketched by none other than Michelangelo – his drawing is preserved in France.

Pula has long inspired artists – even James Joyce once lived here, teaching English. Who knows, perhaps some of his famous lines were written here.
